The department is home to the Midlands Endoscopy Training Academy (META) Hub, which was recognised as a regional training hub in 2022 by NHSE. Through the META Hub, we play an important role in supporting and training healthcare professionals, including endoscopy, nursing, and administrative and clerical staff.
The academy provides a range of JAG-accredited courses, from essential training for those new to endoscopy through to advanced courses developing specialist skills. Training is available for doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and administrative and clerical staff, ensuring teams across the service have the knowledge and skills needed to support high-quality patient care.
By providing high-quality education and sharing best practice, META helps maintain high standards of care, safety and quality across endoscopy services in the region.
