Stroke

The stroke service delivers care to Wolverhampton, Walsall, South Staffordshire and Cannock.

At New Cross Hospital, we have a 39-bedded stroke unit, consisting of 12 hyper acute beds and 27 acute stroke beds.

Inpatient rehabilitation is based at three sites: West Park Hospital, Cannock Chase Hospital, and Hollybank House for Walsall residents.

We also have access to an early supported discharge team, as well as a community stroke team, who will visit patients once they have been discharged from hospital.

We also provide a 24/7 thrombolysis service and a seven-day TIA clinic. We refer all suitable stroke thrombectomy patients to University Hospital North Midlands (UHNM).

Where we are based

The hyper acute stroke unit is located on ward C21 at New Cross Hospital.

The TIA clinic is located at C23, next door to ward C21.
