Smiles, Sparkles and Celebration for Children’s Nurses’ Day

Ruby Doo Party

Young patients, families and staff on the Paediatric Ward at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital have been celebrating Children’s Nurses’ Day with a fun-filled party to recognise the dedication and compassion these teams.

The celebration on Ward A21 was hosted by Ruby Doo Events, bringing an afternoon of entertainment for all.

Sweets, games, dancing and glitter tattoos were all on offer, helping create special memories for children spending time in hospital.

The event was funded by Your RWTC, the registered charity for The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

Sarah Lewis, Matron for Paediatrics at the Trust, said: “Children’s Nurses’ Day is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible work of our Paediatric Nursing Teams, who provide outstanding care, compassion and reassurance to patients and their families every single day.

“Being in hospital can be a difficult experience for any child, so creating moments of fun and normality can make a real difference.

“We are incredibly grateful to Ruby Doo Events for bringing so much energy and excitement to Ward A21, and to Your RWTC for making the event possible through its generous support.”

The party was enjoyed by all, especially four-year-old Ava who has been in hospital recovering from Meningitis.

Caroline Wootton, Ava’s Mum, said: “Today has been amazing, Ava has perked up today, and the party has been the boost she needed.

“She loved all the dances and it’s been amazing to see all the children on A21 smiling.”

Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager for Your RWTC, said: “We are proud to fund projects and experiences that make a genuine difference to both patients and staff.

“We’re delighted to support this Children’s Nurses’ Day celebration, giving children and families the chance to enjoy a special day together while honouring the dedication and compassion of our Paediatric Teams. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful day.”

Children’s Nurses’ Day highlights the vital role children’s Nurses play in caring for babies, children and young people, and celebrates the positive impact they have on patients and their families.
