A very Happy NHS Birthday!

NHS 78 Birthday Charity Summer Fair Football Stalls

Birthday celebrations to mark 78 years of the NHS have been in full swing at New Cross Hospital today with a special Summer Fayre, organised by its Fundraising Team.

Thanks to Your RWTC, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s charity, a marquee by its Emergency Department was packed full of stalls selling items ranging from candles to perfumes, with sweets and hand-crafted items also for sale.

And for those who are well and truly feeling World Cup fever, a penalty shoot-out game was set up nearby for anyone who thought they could give Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane a run for their money!

Among today’s visitors were Liz Walker and Katie Nye who work in Nutrition at the Trust.

“I think it’s important to celebrate the birthday of the NHS,” said Liz. “I’m proud to be part of the Trust because we make a difference to our patients – what we do has an impact on their lives.

“Today’s event has been really good.”

Katie added: “It’s nice to see the Trust celebrate the NHS birthday in this way.”

And Michael Dickin, who works in the fire safety team, said: “It’s brilliant to see an event like this.”

The NHS’s 78th birthday fell yesterday (5 July) but Your RWTC wanted to stage an event for patients, visitors, staff and the whole community to enjoy.

Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager, said: “Seventy eight years of the NHS is a remarkable achievement when you stop to reflect on how many lives it has touched over all those years.

“Our charity wanted to mark the milestone by putting on a summer fayre for all to enjoy and say thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years, through changes and challenges. The NHS is special to so many people.”
