New Wolverhampton mums, pregnant women, parents with young children and families are being invited to a World Breastfeeding Week celebration event.
The free event is taking place at Graiseley Family Hub in Pool Street, Wolverhampton, and is offering antenatal and postnatal breastfeeding support alongside a range of activities. Visitors can make the most of:
They can also access information on warmer homes energy and smoking cessation at the session which runs from 11am until 1pm next Monday 3 August.
Running from 1-7 August, this year’s campaign is taking the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works,” and aims to advocate for supportive policies, tracking infant feeding trends, and building lasting lactation support systems.
Louise Thompson, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Infant Feeding Lead, said: “We look forward to seeing mums, mums-to-be and families at next week’s event where they can find out about the support available for them.
“World Breastfeeding Week reminds us that the right support is essential because breastfeeding is normal and natural, but not always easy. Our Infant Feeding Team, together with maternity, health visiting colleagues and volunteer peer supporters, is committed to helping women meet their feeding goals. Every drop of breastmilk offers comfort, connection and protection — and when we support breastfeeding, we invest in healthier futures.”
