Baby Toby gave mum and dad an unexpected Christmas present by arriving at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital in the early hours today.
Proud mum and dad Emily and Jason Gallear have had to change their seasonal plans slightly to accommodate their first baby but couldn’t be happier.
Emily, 27, who is a support worker for people with learning disabilities, explained the new arrival, born at 1.50am, weighing 7 pounds 14 ounces, was due on 16 December.
“I came in on Monday this week to be induced, and labour started properly last night with him deciding to come along on Christmas day which we didn’t really expect,” she said.
“We usually have a family get together over Christmas but this year we’ll have our celebrations a bit later.”
Emily, whose husband is a delivery driver, said she had been “well supported” at the hospital.
“It’s special that Toby was born on Christmas day and it’s a nice story to tell him when he’s older.”
The Cannock couple’s baby was the first Christmas Day arrival at New Cross Hospital today.
