Company spreads seasonal cheer with generous donation

Children at New Cross Hospital will enjoy a bumper Christmas thanks to a £9,000 donation from a Wolverhampton company.

Aston Transitional Care raised the money for Your RWTC – The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s charity – funding gifts for young patients and vital equipment for children living with diabetes.

The heartwarming delivery was made extra special as staff arrived with beloved characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse and a mischievous Elf on the Shelf.

Patients giggled as Mickey and Minnie danced, while the Elf kept everyone entertained with his playful antics.

The donation included gifts for children aged two to 19 – from books and toys to PlayStation 5 consoles, Nintendo Switch vouchers, gift cards, cinema tickets and food vouchers.

They also bought specialist diabetes equipment, including digital scales, measuring jug and measuring cups – which will be given to families as a starter pack following diagnosis.

Company Directors, Mahesh and Twinkle Mehan, expressed their pride in supporting the local community.

Mahesh said: “I feel very emotional being here today.

“It’s wonderful to do something positive that will truly make a difference in our hometown. Next year, we plan to raise even more.”

Kirsty Lewis, Deputy Head of Nursing at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, said: “We are so thankful for this generosity.

“These donations will make a huge difference, especially for families supporting children with diabetes. We will be able to provide additional equipment for parents to help ease stress while supporting their child to manage their condition.”

Rajinder Paul, HR Manager at Aston Transitional Care, added: “It’s amazing what we’ve achieved together. We’re proud and humbled to give back to these children and the hospital.”

Neil Draper, Head of Operations, who helped with the shopping spree, said: “I’ve had a great time shopping for gifts. As soon as we put the word out, everyone stepped up. It’s the least we can do – giving back feels great.”

Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager, said: “It’s the little things that make all the difference. These gifts and equipment will bring comfort and joy to families and children spending time in hospital. We are so grateful to all who have donated.”
