A familiar Christmas troublemaker brought big smiles to children and staff at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton as part of a playful festive visit.
The Grinch, famous for trying to ‘steal Christmas’, toured the children’s ward at the hospital – part of The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust – spreading cheer while still causing a little light-hearted mischief. The heartwarming visit was organised by Your Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity.
As he made his way through the ward, The Grinch’s antics brought laughter to children, parents and staff alike.
Played by Bernard Moseley from Gornal, The Grinch said: “I love coming to New Cross Hospital every year – you can see how hardworking the staff are.
“My favourite part is seeing smiles on the faces of staff and the children who are particularly in need of some Christmas spirit during their hospital stay.”
Giggles echoed down the corridors as families embraced his cheeky jokes, sarcastic wit and festive greetings.
Emma Reford, mum to two-year-old Poppy, who is being treated for breathing difficulties, said: “We’ve been here for two days now and it’s so lovely for The Grinch to visit the children during a scary time for many of them. You can see they’re all so excited and it’s brightened their day.”
Sarah Lewis, Matron for Acute Paediatrics, added: “The visit from The Grinch brings excitement for the children and young people with us during the festive period. We look forward to his annual visit to the Children’s Ward and the smiles and cheer he brings to all.”
