Vaccination bus visits hospital sites

Vaccine bus

A new roving vaccination vehicle will be visiting hospitals in Walsall and Wolverhampton this winter to help deliver flu and COVID-19 vaccinations to patients, staff and visitors.

Run by LLR Patient Care Locally and supported by the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, the vehicle will travel to New Cross and Walsall Manor Hospitals, making it easier for eligible people to get protected closer to home.

No appointment is needed — people can simply walk in if they are eligible.

Clinic dates and times:
6 December – Walsall Manor Hospital, 12pm–4pm
20 December – New Cross Hospital, 12pm–4pm
13 January – Walsall Manor Hospital, 10am–3pm
14 January – New Cross Hospital, 10am–3pm
17 January – New Cross Hospital, 12pm–4pm

Sally Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, said: “As part of our efforts to protect staff, patients and residents, we are making getting vaccinated as accessible as possible.

“This clinic is designed to offer a welcoming, convenient space where eligible people can get vaccinated against flu and COVID-19 to protect themselves and their loved ones this winter.”

The vaccination bus will be outside the Pathology department at the front of the hospital at the Manor and outside the Emergency Department at New Cross Hospital.

Caroline Whyte, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at The Royal Wolverhampton and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trusts, said: “For lots of different reasons, we recognise it may not always be easy for people to get to a GP practice or pharmacy for their vaccination.

“To make sure they don’t miss out, this roving vehicle will bring the flu and COVID vaccines to our two main hospital sites.

“It means patients, staff or visitors can pop in for their vaccine and protect themselves this winter.

“There is no need to book — just come along and speak to one of the friendly vaccination team who will be able to help you.

“Getting the vaccine means milder symptoms and a quicker recovery if you catch the COVID or flu virus, so I would urge every Black Country resident who is eligible to make sure they have it.”
