Multifaith chaplaincy

Our Chaplaincy Team offers support with spiritual and pastoral care to those of all faiths and beliefs, including people who are not religious.

The confidential service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for patients, families, and carers. The includes an emergency on call service.

Members of the team:

  • offer a friendly face and a listening ear
  • provide individualised support
  • visit the hospital wards regularly
  • hold services in the hospital chapel and prayer room
  • are of Christian, Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh faiths

Where the team is based


In an emergency, please ask for the on-call chaplain via switchboard. If you are staying in hospital, the ward staff can support you with getting in touch.

Sacred spaces


Chapel, New Cross Hospital – located on the main hospital corridor (C4)

  • there is a multifaith prayer facility in the chapel area for patients and visitors to use – prayer mats and holy books are available
  • open every day for private reflection and prayer
  • Christian service of Holy Communion: every Sunday at 10am
  • Sikh prayers for Sarbat Da Bhalla: every Thursday at 1pm
  • Ecumenical prayer: Monday-Friday at 12noon

Multifaith prayer room, New Cross Hospital – located on the ground floor of building 12

  • Muslim prayers: every Friday at 1.15pm

St. Raphael’s Chapel, Cannock Chase Hospital – located on level 1

  • open every day for private reflection and prayer
  • Christian service of Holy Communion: Sundays at 1.45pm

Multifaith prayer room, Cannock Chase Hospital – located near the Eye Centre on level 2

  • Muslim prayers: every Friday at 1pm
  • prayer mats and holy books are available for patients and visitors to use

Our hospital volunteers can escort patients to the chapel and prayer facilities at New Cross and Cannock Chase, with permission from the ward staff.

West Park Hospital


There is a multifaith presence at West Park Hospital, which is available on request. For more details, please ask a member of ward staff.

Holy Communion and prayer resources can also be brought to the wards at all of our sites.
