Bone Densitometry (DXA Scan) Service

A bone density scan can help to assess how strong your bones are and your chance of osteoporosis and future broken bones.

This scan is sometimes called a Bone Mineral Density scan, Bone Density Scan, DXA or DEXA scan.

How to access the service


A referral is required by an entitled healthcare professional. This will typically be a GP, Consultant, a doctor working under a consultant, or a Nurse Specialist.
