Why RWT?

There are many reasons why you should choose RWT as the place to start or develop your NHS career. As well as a wide range of opportunities to develop professionally and progress your career path of choice, there are lots of benefits to working for our Trust, as well as in and around the city of Wolverhampton.

Award winning

The Trust is proud to have won a diverse range of awards, including from national bodies such as The Nursing Times and HSJ (Health Service Journal). We are also thrilled to have achieved the top award for outstanding support to the Armed Forces community.

In addition, we run internal awards for our hard-working staff including a monthly Exceeding Expectation Award, Long Service Awards and our annual staff celebration – a glittering formal event.

Community

We are honoured to serve a diverse population of more than 450,000 people and are committed to improving the lives of the local community.

We recognise our staff and patients have a range of needs and identities and with this in mind, we have established a network of Employee Voice Groups which helps to address any cultural barriers and challenges. These include the LGBTQ+ group, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic group, Carers group, Armed Forces group and Disability and Long Term Conditions group.

Family Friendly

The Trust is proud to offer flexible working and family friendly policies to support you with a good work/life balance. We have childcare benefits in the form of vouchers, discounted childcare and many discounted days out. The Trust is always busy sourcing great local and national deals for staff. So, whether you are planning a well-earned trip out, having a meal with friends or looking for a gift, our staff benefits can offer you the latest exclusive discounts.

Surrounding Attractions

Whilst Wolverhampton is a city, it’s centrally located with some of the country’s most beautiful forests right on our doorstep. Cannock chase is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers ample opportunity for walks, bike rides and horse riding. If you’re feeling brave, there’s GO Ape and an adventure playground as well as stunning wildlife.

Staff Development

This is something we really pride ourselves on at RWT. Our people are central to delivering outstanding patient care. Our Trust is a great place to grow and develop both professionally and personally.

We have an in-house apprenticeship team who are committed to helping support our staff throughout their career journey. Our opportunities aren’t just open to new starters in entry level positions, but existing staff who wish to undertake higher qualifications at under- and postgraduate levels.

Staff wellbeing

We believe that supporting our staff’s wellbeing in the workplace is an important shared responsibility. We have comprehensive resources to support our staff.

Travel links

A 2020 Provident Study ranked Wolverhampton as the “Best place to live in the UK” after the city received top marks in all categories.

It is also a great place to commute to, being centrally located to major roads including the M6, M54 and M5. Wolverhampton is lucky enough not only to have good road links but excellent rail and even bus and tram options. The Trust offers discounted travel passes to help you save on getting to work.
