Starting your career

RWT is a fantastic place to start your career. Our staff are at the heart of what we do, and we offer great opportunities to grow and develop with us.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships offer a range of opportunities to gain the skills, knowledge, and experience you need to develop your career. Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 and over.

There are many different apprenticeship standards available across a wide variety of job roles, with a range of levels to apply for depending on your current skills and qualifications – all the way up to degree and postgraduate level.

There are no course fees – your training costs are funded by the government through the Apprenticeship Levy. All apprenticeships include elements of on- and off-the-job training, leading to industry-recognised standards or qualifications.

Not sure which career pathway is right for you? Use the Health Career Pathways Tool to help you decide.

Flexi-Bank

Flexi-Bank provides temporary cover for wards, departments, and community services.

Bank workers can choose the role type and location of shifts, to fit around other commitments. It offers a great way of gaining experience in an area that you may wish to work in permanently in the future.

There’s a wide range of roles included: nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, AHPs, and admin and clerical staff.

Clinical roles can be taken on alongside your permanent role. This can be a great way of gaining exposure to new areas and earning some extra money.

Admin and clerical roles are longer assignments of a few weeks or months at a time.

You can apply solely to a bank position, or once employed, you can register your interest to be added to the Flexi-Bank.
