Inflammatory Bowel Disease Services

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust provides comprehensive care and support for people living with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and forms of microscopic colitis.  We offer a range of services, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management, tailored to your individual needs.  Our goal is to help you manage your condition, improve your quality of life, and empower you to live well with IBD.  We work closely with you to develop a personalised care plan, and we’re here to answer your questions and provide support every step of the way.

Where we are based


If you’re living with inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), we offer specialist clinics to support you.  You can see our IBD team on Tuesdays at New Cross Hospital in the outpatient department located in area A27 and Wednesdays at Cannock Chase Hospital outpatients’ level 2. We also provide nurse specialist and pharmacist lead education clinics on Wednesdays at Cannock Chase Hospital; outpatients level 2 and Thursdays at New Cross Hospital in A27 outpatients department. When face to face appointments are required, we will try our best to have your appointment at the hospital which is closest to you. We also offer a range of clinical nurse specialist and consultant telephone clinic appointments.

How to access the service


If you’re experiencing symptoms that suggest you might have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), or if you’ve already been diagnosed and need ongoing care, talk to your GP. They can refer you to the IBD team at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.  Once we receive the referral, we’ll be in touch to arrange an appointment and discuss your treatment options.  We’re committed to providing timely and appropriate care, so don’t hesitate to reach out to your GP if you have any concerns.

Living with inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) can be challenging, and we’re here to help. If you’re a patient at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and would like to talk to someone about your IBD, we have a dedicated telephone support line you can call. This is an answering machine service, where you can leave a message between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Friday on 01902 694077, excluding weekends and bank holidays.
