Waiting for your appointment

Our priority is making sure our patients get the treatment they need in the right place at the right time.

You will be contacted by the relevant team if you are on a waiting list for treatment. They will tell you when your procedure will take place and any other information you need to know.

The team you are receiving care from will be your point of contact, so please contact the department directly if you have any queries or concerns.

If you start to feel worse or your symptoms change, please let your clinical team know.

Contact your GP if you have not yet had your first appointment at hospital, or they have referred you for a diagnostic test, such as a scan or X-ray.

Contact the hospital department if you are waiting for a follow-up appointment, or a member of staff has referred you for a diagnostic test. It’s also important that you tell us if you are waiting for a procedure.

Out-of-hours support

If you need urgent help, visit the 111 online website or call 111.

In an emergency, call 999 or go to your nearest emergency department.

For general health information, the NHS Live Well website has lots of advice on things like healthy eating, exercise, mental health, and sexual health. The site also offers information on topics such as bone health, pain, and seasonal health.

If you no longer need your appointment

It’s important that you let us know if you no longer need your appointment.

Cancelling an unwanted appointment means it can be offered to someone else on our waiting list, which is a huge help to us and other patients who need support.

You may receive a text message asking if you still need your appointment. Please respond to this – it’s quick and easy to do so.
