Accessing your appointments digitally

Important

Between 26th and 28th September 2025, RWT will be making some upgrades to our computer systems. There may be some impact on how your appointments are displayed on MyRWT during and after this period.

  • You may see new appointments that happened in the past that you were not previously aware of. You do not need to do anything or worry about these. These are records of contacts that you may have had with health care professionals that were not previously shown in the app, for example phone calls, blood tests or walk-in attendances at the hospital. These are for information only.
  • You may lose access to some letters, appointments or leaflets that you previously saw in the app where they are no longer compatible with our new systems. You should have received a text message if this might affect you, but we recommend that all patients use the ‘Download PDF’ function in MyRWT to save copies of your letters and leaflets to your device just in case there are any problems. This option is the blue box located at the top right of the page when you are looking at a letter. For leaflets, please use your device’s usual options to download or save the attachment. We will work hard to get these made available to you again as soon as we can.
  • If any changes are made to your appointments between 26th and 28th September, for example if you call us to cancel or change an appointment, these changes will not be shown in MyRWT until the upgrade is complete. If the changes are not shown on the app correctly after 1st October, please contact us using the numbers below.
  • If you see anything concerning during or after this change, or have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch via PALS or using the contact numbers below.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is pleased to offer our patients an online service that gives you secure access to your health record via the NHS App.

It’s designed to improve your experience as a patient, including access to services and information.

The NHS app already allows you to see your vaccinations status, order repeat prescriptions, book and manage GP appointments, get health information and advice, view your NHS Number and view your GP health record securely.

This service is free and uses an NHS accredited system called MyRWT.

If you already use MyRWT, you can continue to use this as normal.

The benefit of using the NHS App is that you can view all your healthcare information and appointments together in one place, regardless of which hospital or GP it is at.

The MyRWT app has more specific and detailed information about your RWT appointments, including leaflets, questionnaires and travel directions.

Keep reading for more information about MyRWT, which includes a link to the privacy notice so you can be sure about how your data is being used.

Please note, these apps are not to be used in an emergency. For more information on what to do if you require urgent treatment, please visit Black Country ICB – Find the right service for you.

Benefits of using the NHS App

  • Digital letters enable quicker communication between our clinical teams and patients, giving you greater peace of mind and avoiding delays
  • It’s fast and easy to use
  • It’s more secure than text reminders/notifications, ensuring no one else can access your information if you don’t want them to
  • It’s faster than the post, you will get your appointments instantly on the day they are booked instead of waiting for the mail
  • The NHS saves money that would have been spent on paper letters, which can go back into supporting other vital services
  • Reduced use of paper helps to protect the environment.

FAQs

You can still receive text, letter and email alerts if we have your details. Nothing will change for patients who do not have the NHS app, so you do not have to notify the relevant service if you’re happy with our current communications.

You can also call the relevant service to change or cancel your appointment.

The app allows you to view all your NHS documents in one place, and offers several ways to interact with healthcare services, depending on what each service offers. For example, you can access the new appointment booking system which allows you to request amendments or cancelations to your appointments, which you can’t do via texts and emails.  RWT does not yet offer this feature but will do so in future. Your GP or other local hospitals may already offer this feature. If you think this will benefit you, it would be worthwhile to download the app.

Yes. We’re following all NHS and government regulations to guarantee your privacy.

Yes, it is completely free of charge.

You can download the NHS app at: Apple Store Google Store

No. You don’t need to re-download the app or any kind of extension to access the new booking system.

If you have both apps, you will notice that you can login to the MyRWT app using your NHS App login. This makes things easier for you, so that you only have to remember one set of login details. Because the NHS App login uses the strongest available security, your personal healthcare data is protected regardless of which app you use.

As well as being able to request changes or cancellations to your appointment, soon we will also be offering:

  • Digital questionnaires. These will help you provide your clinician with information about you and your condition before your appointment, so that you can take your time to think about the answers if you need to, and so that you can use your appointment time to discuss your treatment in more detail.
  • Digital PIFU. For patients with an active Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU), some services will allow you to request a PIFU appointment digitally rather than having to call up.
  • Leaflet and Video Library – You will be able to access and download a range of healthcare information and helpful videos about your condition, so that you can find out what an upcoming test might involve or get advice on how to manage your symptoms while you wait for an appointment for example.

More about MyRWT

Our patient portal, MyRWT, can be used on a smartphone, laptop, or other smart device. As explained above, it works hand in hand with the NHS App, and you can use either or both depending on your needs.

Once registered for MyRWT, you can:

  • see details relating to some of your outpatient appointments
  • view a digital version of some appointment letters
  • add your appointments to a personal calendar
  • choose whether you still want to receive paper copies of your appointment letters alongside digital ones

If you have not registered for the portal and have a future appointment, you can still register for myRWT.
