From 3 November, the Urgent Treatment Centre at Phoenix Health Centre, on Parkfield Road, Wolverhampton, will be closing two hours earlier. This means the opening hours will be 8am until 6pm, seven days a week. Outside of these hours you can access the Urgent Treatment Centre at New Cross Hospital, which is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Other services which are available to you include NHS 111 and your local pharmacist.

Dr Raghavan Vidya
A leading Wolverhampton breast surgeon and academic has been appointed Honorary Secretary of the Association of Breast Surgeons (ABS) UK) — recognising her outstanding leadership, research, and dedication to improving patient care.
Dr Raghavan Vidya MS, MD, FRCS, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, said she was “proud” to take on the role with the organisation, which promotes excellence in breast surgery, education, and research across the UK.
Dr Vidya graduated from the University of Madras, India, completed her MD (Research) at the University of Edinburgh, and undertook higher surgical training in the Wessex and West Midlands regions. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, two books on breast reconstruction, and an eBook on Global Breast Training in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) and ABS.
A pioneer in her field, Dr Vidya introduced muscle-sparing implant-based breast reconstruction, offering improved recovery for patients. She also leads the RCS International Surgical Training Programme (ISTP) in Breast Surgery and serves as Associate Director of the West Midlands Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA).
She said: “I am proud to take on this role and will continue to promote best practice, innovation, and equity in breast care.”
The ABS said: “This is a significant and prestigious achievement, highlighting Miss Vidya’s exceptional leadership, clinical expertise, and longstanding commitment to advancing the field of breast surgery.”
