Nominations are now open for the national BAME Health and Care Awards which honour trailblazers who have made significant contributions to advancing equality within healthcare.
People who have had positive experiences through The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare and are being invited to put forward worthy winners.
The awards are also open to NHS staff and allies who want to nominate colleagues who demonstrate a positive impact on advancing equity, reducing health disparities, and fostering inclusive environments.
Kerry Flint, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, said: “We’d love to see nominations made by our patients as we value their feedback and they are the best judges of how effective our efforts are in this important area.
“We have some really innovative and inspirational staff at our Trusts, and it would be so good for others to see that we are working to make a positive and meaningful difference to the BAME patients who use our hospital and community services as well as supporting our own teams to thrive in their workplaces.”
Joan Dyer, Chair of Walsall Healthcare’s BAME Council, said: “We have some amazing BAME staff who truly make a difference to our patients’ experience as well as their families and carers and this is a chance to acknowledge their contribution nationally, as well as locally.
“We are working hard across Walsall and Wolverhampton to encourage confidence in healthcare services for people across all communities. We want them to feel assured they are coming into an inclusive environment, and our staff are attuned to their needs.”
