Families of twins from across the Black Country came together for an afternoon filled with smiles and support.
Held in the Maternity Department at New Cross Hospital, the gathering welcomed more than 50 people, offering parents and children the chance to share experiences, swap stories and create new friendships.
Lucy McNeillie, Multiple Birth Midwife at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, said it was a fantastic afternoon.
She said: “We decided to organise an afternoon for parents of twins and triplets to meet other families for support, as a lot of the twins groups have closed down since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We organised tea, coffee and cake and games for the little ones to play with.
“The Infant Feeding Team were there to provide support, as well as some of the Consultants who have looked after the mums over the past year.
“It was a chance for them to make friends and get in touch with other families.
“The feedback so far has been really positive, and I hope to organise another one soon.”
Sian Green, mother of twins Luca and Leo, said they enjoyed the afternoon.
The twins were born at 36 weeks via an elective C-section.
She said: “We all loved it. It was so nice to see the staff who helped me throughout my pregnancy, birth and postnatal care.
“I was so lucky to have brilliant care throughout, and it was great to see the staff again to thank them.
“You form friendships with them so it’s nice to see them all again.
“It was also good to see other twin parents share stories and talk about our experiences.
“I am so glad we went.”
Another attendee was Emma Plumb with her four-week-old twins, Issac and Haider.
She said: “The twins slept the whole time – they were really good.
“I really enjoyed the get-together as it was good to hear different stories.
“The support we have had from the Trust has been brilliant.”
