From 3 November, the Urgent Treatment Centre at Phoenix Health Centre, on Parkfield Road, Wolverhampton, will be closing two hours earlier. This means the opening hours will be 8am until 6pm, seven days a week. Outside of these hours you can access the Urgent Treatment Centre at New Cross Hospital, which is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Other services which are available to you include NHS 111 and your local pharmacist.

Black Country NHS Trusts shortlisted for five prestigious awards

 

Five teams from two Black Country NHS Trusts have been recognised nationally after being shortlisted for the Nursing Times Awards 2025.

The Royal Wolverhampton (RWT) and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trusts have been named as finalists across five categories in the awards, which celebrate excellence, innovation, and patient-focused care within the Nursing profession.

The Nursing Times Awards bring together the Nursing community to shine a light on the brightest talent in the sector, recognising individuals and teams who are leading the way in innovative, inclusive and compassionate practice.

Finalists include:
•     Walsall Healthcare, Nursing Associates working within a clinical research setting, have been shortlisted for a Clinical Research Nursing Award

•     RWT’s Acute Kidney Injury and Colorectal Nurse Specialist Team, maintaining kidney health in ileostomy patients, has been shortlisted for a Critical and Emergency Care Nursing Award and Kings Integrated Practice Award

•     Walsall Healthcare, Mouthcare in Healthcare, has been shortlisted for an Infection Prevention and Control Award

•     Both Trusts have been shortlisted for Team of the Year – Thrive Together: A collaborative framework for lifelong learning

•     RWT’s Joint School has been shortlisted for a Theatre and Surgical Nursing Award

Debra Hickman, Chief Nursing Officer at RWT and Lisa Carroll, Chief Nursing Officer at Walsall Healthcare, said: “We are absolutely delighted that five of our teams have been shortlisted for these highly respected national awards.

“This recognition is a real testament to the passion, innovation and dedication our Nurses show every single day in delivering outstanding care for our patients and communities.

“To be acknowledged on such a prestigious stage is a huge honour, and we couldn’t be prouder of our colleagues.”

The finalists will be revealed at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on Wednesday 22 October 2025.
