Families are being invited to a Summer Fair to help fundraising efforts at Wolverhampton’s Gem Centre which provides services for children and young people.

Community Services at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust have teamed up with its charity – Your RWTC – to start raising money for improvements to the centre.

The Summer Fair is set for Friday 29 August, from 11am–2pm and will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, stalls, and entertainment to create a fun and welcoming day for all.

Visitors will be able to learn more about the services provided by the Gem Centre, while enjoying activities designed to bring the community together.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming families to the Gem Centre for a day of fun, connection and community,” said Sara Eacopo, Matron for Children’s Community Nursing Service and Clinical Nurse Specialists.

“This event is an opportunity to showcase the services we offer while providing a positive and engaging experience for children and families.”

The fundraising appeal is to support new signage outside the centre, potentially a collage that is co-produced with young patients, and an interactive projector in the waiting area.

The centre has welcomed young people from the HY5! youth forum, a service for young people with a special educational need or disability and wants to use the group’s feedback to help drive improvements.

The Summer Fair is being held at the Gem Centre car park on Neachells Lane, WV11 3PG.

Free ice creams will be given to the first 50 children to go to the ice cream van and will be available for visitors to buy after that.

‘Wish Upon a Mascot’ will be attending with a character dressed in a full body costume while face painting, glitter tattoos and candy floss will also be on offer.

Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager, added: “Your RWTC is pleased to support the Gem Centre’s fundraising, appreciating how valuable its services are for children and young people in our communities.

“Fingers crossed for lovely weather for this fun, free event which will feature stalls, a raffle and tombola”

If any businesses or organisations want to support the appeal, and help make a difference, they should contact the charity on 01902 694473 or email rwh-tr.fundraisingteam@nhs.net

There will be special visits from local community partners as part of the day’s celebrations.
