Electronic patient records (EPR)

We are currently undertaking a landmark digital transformation and introducing a new electronic patient record (EPR) system, Blueprint.

This new system will support our staff to provide the best quality care for our patients.

The first phase will launch in September 2025.

Introducing Blueprint will:

  • enhance our clinical effectiveness and efficiency
  • provide a smoother care journey for our patients
  • resolve barriers to effective care outcomes for every patient

Currently our teams use more than 300 digital systems to provide patient care.

Blueprint will integrate most of those systems into a single Trust-wide digital system.

Digital healthcare provider, System C, is working with us to deliver the system.

Patient data will no longer be collected using paper notes and all patient information will be stored securely in single Trust-wide digital system. This means:

  • every patient will have their own digital health record – containing all personal and health-related data
  • records will also include medical history, surgical appointments, medications, and allergies
  • records are unique to the patient and can only be accessed by clinicians who are directly involved in their care
  • clinicians will have access to patient information at their fingertips using electronic devices – ensuring each patient receives timely and effective care
  • accurate and inclusive records stored securely in Blueprint will support our clinicians to deliver the most effective care, based on each patient’s individual needs

The official go-live date will be communicated to our patients and communities in advance, and a new data processing notice will be added to this website.

We encourage anyone using our services during the first few weeks of the new EPR to be respectful and patient with staff as we become familiar with the new system.
