From 3 November, the Urgent Treatment Centre at Phoenix Health Centre, on Parkfield Road, Wolverhampton, will be closing two hours earlier. This means the opening hours will be 8am until 6pm, seven days a week. Outside of these hours you can access the Urgent Treatment Centre at New Cross Hospital, which is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Other services which are available to you include NHS 111 and your local pharmacist.
The Health Visiting Service is a universal service which supports local families and their baby/child from 0-5 years. Service delivery is underpinned by evidence-based practice and sets out to enhance health and reduce health inequalities. Working closely with parents, we support and provide informed advice from the antenatal period through until your child starts school.
We are made up of Health Visitors, Public Health Associates, data and admin staff. We offer support through a combination of home visits, group work and clinics.

Breastfeeding support and social groups in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas
Wolverhampton’s Infant Feeding Team and 0-19 Health Visiting Team runs face-to-face support groups on a drop-in basis, so there is no need to book to attend. Partners, friends, and family members are welcome to join the sessions:
There is also the ‘virtual breastfeeding support and social group‘ which runs every Monday evening, 7.00pm – 8:30pm on MS teams. Breakout rooms are available for 1-1 support.
If you are working, you may be able to ask your workplace for time off work to attend one or more group sessions if they’ve been recommended by a health professional – ask your doctor or midwife for details.
The people working in the Family Hub will be able to give you information or advice and help you to find and get support from different services in the area.
The City’s Families Hubs focus on early intervention and providing support, at the right time and the right place.
During pregnancy your community midwife will have conversations with you about feeding your baby. If you would like to know more about feeding your baby, you can get specialist support from the Infant Feeding Team by contacting them directly (hyper link to contact details) or by attending our virtual and in-person breastfeeding support groups.
Breastfeeding groups are also a great place to meet other expectant/new parents, to build support networks, and get helpful tips and information to help you in your early days of parenthood.
