Apprenticeships
Step in to the NHS with an Apprenticeshipwhich can offer an excellent opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge and experience you need to develop your career. Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 16 with no age limit.
There are many different apprenticeship standardsavailable across a wide variety of job roles and disciplines and gaining an accredited qualification whilst working. There are various levels of apprenticeship to apply for depending on current skills and qualifications, from intermediary up to degree and masters level.
There are no course fees – your training costs are funded by the government through the Apprenticeship Levy and all apprenticeships include elements of on the job and off the job training leading to industry recognised standards or qualifications.

Flexi-Bank
Flexi-Bank provides temporary cover for wards, departments and community services. Bank workers can pick and choose the type and location of shifts or assignments to fit out their other commitments. It’s a fantastic way of gaining experience in an area that you may wish to work in but would like to ‘try before you buy’.
There’s a wide range of roles and staff groups included; nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, AHPs and admin and clerical staff. The clinical roles often sit alongside your permanent or other employment and can be a great way of gaining exposure to new areas and earning some additional money. The admin and clerical roles are more lengthy assignments of a few weeks or months at a time.
You can apply solely to a bank position, or once formally employed, you can register your interest to be added to the flexi-bank.

Work Experience
The Trust recognises that work experience is a way of drawing in our future clinical and non-clinical staff. Work experience at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT), which includes Cannock Chase Hospital (CCH) and Vertical Integration GP Practices, offers a great opportunity to sample a career in the NHS.
The experience of a working environment prior to making a career choice can prove valuable in shaping your long-term future. University courses/job vacancies are increasingly difficult to apply for and many employers now require work experience for a stronger application.
The aim of work experience is to provide the participant with an opportunity to gain experience of working in a healthcare setting, providing an introduction to the world of work, including working conditions and attendance management.
