Embracing Technology Enhanced Care

A new technology event designed to help people live independently and manage their health and wellbeing at home has been hailed a success.
OneWolverhampton partnership hosted its first Technology Enabled Care Independent Living Week, bringing partners together to celebrate the impact of digital technology.
The week kicked off with a half day event giving health and social care colleagues, who support people through technology enabled care (TEC), the opportunity to share best practice and learn from each other.
A marketplace of TEC suppliers gave attendees the chance to find out more about the latest technology available to help people access the tools they need to live independently and manage their health and wellbeing at home.
Andrew Wolverson, Director of Adult Social Care for Wolverhampton Council, said: “Making TEC a priority isn’t just about keeping up with the latest gadgets—it’s about making real, positive changes in how we deliver care.
“Technology is no longer just an extra; it’s a key part of a modern, effective social care system. By focusing on TEC, we’re committing to giving everyone access to the tools they need to live independently, safely, and with dignity.”
Diane Vukmirovic attended the event and said: “I really enjoyed the day. I have a lot of opinions on older people’s care, and the way older people are treated as they get older, which has been great to share. I have loved the TEC I have seen and it’s going to be helpful for me. I have started to think about how I can future proof my home after having a fall to make it simpler to get around.”
Throughout the week more than 120 people joined a series of webinars covering topics including compliance with data protection legislation, funding for digital care records and digital support for mental health care.
To end the week there was an example of how advanced technologies are being used to support more than 300 adults with care needs.
The feedback collected will be used to look at how the quality of life can be improved for Wolverhampton residents.
