Date of release: 22 November 2024
Festive fun is just around the corner with TV motorsports presenter Suzi Perry gearing up to visit New Cross Hospital to turn on its Christmas lights.
The Wolves fan has agreed to bring her own sparkle to The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity Christmas Fayre and lights switch-on event set for Friday 29 November, 11am - 5pm in the ED Marquee at the hospital.
A host of market stalls selling a range of gift and craft items will start the event in style with carols from the RWT Singers at 4pm to get everyone in the festive mood and the lights switch-on scheduled to take place at 4.30pm.
Amanda Winwood, Charity Development Manager at the Trust, said: “We’ve been really busy behind the scenes organising our much-loved annual Christmas Fayre and lights switch-on and we can’t wait to give our patients, staff and visitors another afternoon to remember.
“We’re thrilled that Suzi Perry is giving up her time to do the honours – she was born at RAF Cosford and raised in Wolverhampton and clearly loves our city. We can’t wait to welcome her to New Cross Hospital and celebrate this special moment with her.
“The RWT Charity has a packed calendar in the lead up to Christmas with donations being delivered to our patients of all ages across New Cross, Cannock Chase and West Park Hospitals and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing supporters in the business world and our local communities for their kindness.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to next week’s official countdown to Christmas!”
In 2016 Suzi was made an honorary Doctor of Engineering by the University of Wolverhampton for services to science, technology, and work encouraging young entrepreneurs. In the same year, she was honoured with a Wolverhampton Famous Sons and Daughters Award which she described as “very special.”
As well as Motorsport and other sporting events, her TV credits include Queens of the Road and Inside Out for BBC 1, Treasure Hunt, F1 Rewind with Murray Walker and MotoGP for BBC2 and How to take Stunning Pictures, Operation Homefront and the Gadget Show for Channel 5.
She is also a contributing journalist, working with The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, The Mirror Group, Motorcycle News, T3 and Stuff Magazine.
