Teal Tuesday is being held on 19 March to coincide with Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign is hosted by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) Charity and the Gynaecology Service.

Whether it’s a whole outfit, teal socks, or a teal headband – local people are encouraged to get involved in work or at home by wearing teal and help raise funds for this important cause.

Kelly Ward, Gynae Cancer Care Navigator, said: “It is our first year of the Teal Tuesday campaign and we are encouraging everyone to get involved.

“Donations will go towards our goal of funding a quiet room for patients if they need further 1:1 support or need a confidential safe place to chat to our team.”

To donate £1, text TEAL to 70085. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message, and you will be opting into hearing more from The RWT Charity.

In the UK around 7,500 new cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed every year.

As part of the campaign, Ovacome, the UK's Ovarian Cancer Charity, is hosting a stand with members of the RWT Gynaecology Service to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

The teams will be outside Greggs at New Cross Hospital on Tuesday (19 March) and the stand is open for anybody – patients, visitors, or staff – to attend.

Visitors will also be able to enter a raffle to win afternoon tea for two at the Mount Hotel worth £50.

Amie Rogers, Fundraising and Digital Lead Engagement Officer for the RWT Charity, said: “We’re delighted that the gynaecology team has decided to hold a fundraiser at the same time as raising awareness of ovarian cancer.

“All funds raised will go directly back to the team so we can help go above and beyond the hospital experience for staff, patients, and their families.”
