The support groups are increasing from three days a week to five days.

These are being run by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust’s (RWT) Infant Feeding Team and Wolverhampton’s 0-19 Health Visiting Service.

New groups have been organised by a new team, called Infant Feeding Universal Service Practitioners (USPs).

USPs are existing dedicated, trained and valued, Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers for RWT who have now been employed through the City of Wolverhampton Council as part of its Family Hubs workforce.

All USPs have lived experience and are able to offer non-judgmental, practical support as well as empathy and a listening ear.

Home visits can also be arranged, depending on individual need.

Poppy Davies, Breastfeeding Peer Support Co-ordinator, Infant Feeding Team at RWT, said: “We are so pleased to be able to offer two new breastfeeding support groups and additional community support for Wolverhampton.

“We have ensured these groups are spread out across the city to increase accessibility, including having them in the afternoons, as we know how difficult it can be to get out the house first thing with a newborn!”

Support for women at every stage of their feeding journey, from pregnancy and beyond.

The sessions are as follows:-
  • Mondays at Low Hill Family Hub, WV10 9LZ at 10am-12noon
  • Tuesdays at Bingley Family Hub, WV3 OJE at 12noon-2pm
  • Wednesdays at Children’s Village Family Hub WV11 1PE at 10am-12noon
  • Thursdays at Bilston Library WV14 7LU at 12noon-2pm
  • Fridays at Whitmore Reans Family Hub WV1 4AL at 10am-12noon
