The six babies were all born at the hospital, part of The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

First to arrive was baby boy Leyton Pickett at 2.07am after mum Jade Pickett started having contractions on Monday. Jade and husband Roger are first-time parents from Wolverhampton.

Jade, 26, said Leyton was born at exactly 40 weeks. She said: “He was born exactly on his due date. It is very special that he was born on a leap year. He will be forever young!”

Kelly Arthur and Dean Willoughby, from Pendeford, welcomed their daughter Lottie Willoughby at 10am after a planned caesarean section. She weighted 5lb 5oz.

Kelly, a pre-school nursery supervisor, said: “I was worried when I realised she was going to be born on a leap year but now I think it is very unique and super special.

“We have been trying to decide what day to celebrate her birthday on. Her older sister Brooke, 11, was born in February so we may pick March 1 for Lottie so they have their birthday on separate months.”
