Angela honoured as a Fellow
Date of release: 20 December 2024
A leading Wolverhampton Pharmacist has been honoured with one of the highest national accolades in her field to recognise her distinguished career.
Angela Davis
Angela Davis, Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT), is now a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) for Distinction in the Profession of Pharmacy.
The mum of three, 49, who leads more than 300 staff at the Trust, is one of 39 new Fellows by the RPS for 2024, and one of only 15 from a hospital setting.
“To have been designated as a Fellow and have received this recognition from my peers is a lovely surprise and an honour,” said Angela.
“I have been incredibly fortunate to work with many inspiring Pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals throughout 25 years as a Pharmacist, and receiving this is a testament to those individuals and teams.
“I am passionate about being a Pharmacist and I am now even more motivated to develop our services to improve patient care, and to play a role in inspiring the next generation of leaders.”
The RPS said: “Being appointed a Fellow is one of the highest accolades that can be paid to a member as it recognises the distinction members have attained in their Pharmacy career.
“As Fellowships are based on nominations from members, it also signifies the high esteem in which members are held by their peers.”
Angela with her team at the Royal Awards
Angela, from Stafford, became Clinical Director of the Trust in summer 2019, joining from University Hospital of North Midlands, where she had been Deputy Director of Pharmacy.
The RPS added: “Fellows have attained distinction in their Pharmacy career. Fellowship is one of the highest honours the RPS can bestow upon its members.
“All RPS Fellows are nominated by their peers, and chosen by our distinguished Panel of Fellows
“Any member you nominate must have made an outstanding original contribution to the advancement of pharmaceutical knowledge, attained distinction in the science, practice, profession or history of Pharmacy, and demonstrably have gone above and beyond in their day job.”
Angela is the only fellow at the Trust and the first since Professor Ray Fitzpatrick.
During her leadership, the team has doubled as she has worked to demonstrate the value of a Pharmacy presence in the multi-disciplinary team.
In 2024, the Pharmacy Team was awarded Clinical Team of the Year in the Trust’s internal Royal Awards for the first time, recognising its contribution to the clinical care of patients.
Angela is one of 176 RPS Fellows from a hospital setting among a total of 819.
