Wolverhampton NHS teams are full of pride after being nominated for a number of prestigious national awards.

Out of 25 categories in the Nursing Times Awards, eight feature shortlisted teams from The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London in October.

The Virtual Ward and Hospital at Home service is shortlisted in five categories this year: Nurse of the year, Children’s Services, Continence Promotion and Care, Team of the Year and Technology and Data in Nursing.

Jodie Winfield, (Acting) Head of Nursing said: “We are incredibly proud of the Virtual Ward and Hospital at Home service to be shortlisted for a phenomenal five awards.

“The team has gone from strength to strength since inception at the end of 2020 and has expanded the level of service provided in the community to support higher acuity of care delivery at home.

“The level of engagement by all members of the team in adapting to innovation, new pathway development, and use of digital technology, all whilst delivering safe and high-quality care to patients is recognised and we wish the team, and individuals, the very best of luck at the awards ceremony later this year.”

The Femoral Fracture Service is shortlisted in the Care of older people category.

Raki Gill, Lead Nurse said: “It is an honour and privilege for the team to be shortlisted for the Nursing Times Awards.

“As a team we are committed to improve the patient journey for those admitted with femoral fractures. We recognise femoral fractures can cause significant morbidity and mortality in elderly patients and therefore rapid and timely intervention can subsequently contribute to a more positive outcome.

“The Femoral Fracture Team is extremely dedicated, passionate and driven and feel grateful for the recognition of the service.”

The Breast Dressings Team is shortlisted in the Infection Prevention and Control category.

Ann Harvey, Sister said: “We are all thrilled and extremely proud to have been shortlisted for the Nursing Times Award in this category.

“As a team we all work extremely hard to ensure our patients, who suffer wound breakdown following their cancer surgery, receive appropriate, evidence-based wound care and continued support, which we have found helps reduce anxiety in an already significant time for them and their families.”

The Primary Care Nursing (PCN) Team is shortlisted in the Nursing in Primary Care category.

Kerry Bannister, Nurse Associate said: “It is amazing to hear that our PCN has been shortlisted as part of the Nursing Times Awards for the second year running. This recognition shows us just how appreciated we are as Nurses and means the absolute world to us all.”
