Wolves All Stars score for charity

Former Wolves players will be aiming to roll back the years for a good cause this Sunday when they dust off their boots for charity.
The Wolves All Stars play the FA Veterans in a charity fundraising football match called ‘Game for Olivia’ at Bilston Town FC.

It is believed to be a record turnout of ex-gold and black heroes at a match – and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) Charity is one of three beneficiaries.
Nearly 30 ex-Molineux favourites will either be playing or watching the game, which starts at 2pm. Among those pulling on their boots are former captain Jody Craddock, Seyi Olofinjana, League Cup winner Mel Eves, Simon Osborn, Adam Proudlock, Jackie Gallagher, Kevin Ashley, Micky Holmes, Tony Dinning, Colin Taylor, Matt Hill, Paul Jones, Matt Forman and Dennis Pearce.
Cheering them on from the sidelines will be former Wolves players from six decades, including goalkeepers Phil Parkes, Sky Sports TV pundit Matt Murray and Carl Ikeme, Steve Daley, Robbie Dennison, Alistair Robertson, Colin Brazier, Gerry Taylor and Joe Jackson.
One notable absentee who was asked is Rob Edwards – as Luton Town manager, he has a prior engagement, their Premier League fixture at Aston Villa kicking off at the same time!
Long-term Wolves All Stars sponsor and secretary Jason Guy has organised the game. His daughter Olivia was born with 1p36, a rare condition that typically causes severe intellectual disability.
Funds from the game will be divided equally RWT’s Neonatal Unit at New Cross Hospital, 1p36 Family Trust and Breast Cancer Now.

Olivia was treated at New Cross Hospital’s Neonatal Unit and Jason is keen to continue giving back.
“It’s the biggest number of former Wolves players we’ve had at a game and we’re hoping to raise £2,000, so if the weather holds, hopefully we can attract a good crowd,” said Jason, who owns Wolverhampton city centre-based recruitment firm Staff Today. “Rob provided the best excuse ever for not attending!”
“There will be a raffle, an auction and a football card, so it should be a good afternoon out for all the family.”
Jason and wife Aimee are keen to continue to support the Neonatal Unit, where Olivia, who is now three, was treated for six weeks from October 2020.
“Olivia received absolutely fantastic care on the Neonatal Unit,” added Jason. “We have previously bought the unit a heated mattress and we want to add pieces of equipment so staff there can continue to provide outstanding care, and sick babies and their families can benefit.”
The FA Veterans – a group of over-35s who tour the country to play in charity games – has pledged £700 to play in this fixture.
